New Patients

New patients are welcome.

Please discuss with our secretarial staff.  From time to time we may not be in a position to take on new patients. This is to ensure that we have enough time to offer our current patients the best possible service.

House Calls

Home visits are restricted to immobile patients or those requiring end of life care. Each request will be reviewed by the doctor.
Requests for house calls must be phoned in before 11 am. Requests will be assessed individually by the doctors and will only be offered to patients deemed too ill to travel to the surgery.  If at all possible it is better if the patient attends the surgery as there is a full range of equipment here to deal with most problems.  Urgent appointments are available every day and sick patients will be facilitated as much as possible.  Please consult with reception staff who will then liaise with your doctor.

Results

If you have had blood tests taken in the surgery and are awaiting results please phone the surgery after 7-10 days. The Reception staff are unable to give results as a matter of policy.  A message will be taken and either the Nurse of one of the doctors will phone you with the results.

Normal results may be texted via SMS messaging or our Practice Nurse may call you.

Abnormal results may be best followed up with a further appointment.  Your doctor will either phone to discuss the result or, if more appropriate, get our reception staff to contact you to suggest making a further appointment.

Prescriptions

Prescription requests cannot be accepted over the phone. This is in keeping with best practice.

Requests can be made  by downloading the request form from the website and posting to the surgery

Please nominate the pharmacy of your choice when applying for your prescription and the doctor will then forward it to your pharmacist by secure email.

There is a fee of €25 for all private repeat prescription requests which is payable in advance. The doctor reviews all prescription requests and will request that you make an appointment prior to issuing the prescription if deemed necessary.

N.B Please allow a minimum of one week for renewal of your prescription.

From June 2018 all prescription requests need to be made in writing on our repeat prescribing request form

The Irish College of General Practitioners now recommends that requests for repeat prescriptions are made in writing. This system will ensure maximum patient safety, reduce the risk of prescribing of unnecessary medications, ensure accurate records of patient medication requests are retained and minimise human error.

It will also free up the reception staff to deal more efficiently with patient queries over the phone.

Please ask if you have any queries. Your co-operation is greatly appreciated.
